Hailey Swimming for the 1st time!

Hailey went swimming today for the first time. She LOVED it! The water was quite cold too so I was surprised she liked it. We first put her feet in and she liked it so much I put her bathing suit on (and mine too, EEK!) and went for a swim. Randy was working from home so he joined as well.

I swear this child is fearless! She squealed and laughed. She was timid about a few things but otherwise she was a happy little swimmer. Here are some pics and a few videos at the end!

Hailey & Uncle Jeff

Sorry Uncle Ryan & Uncle Adam, I think right now Hailey's favorite Uncle is her Uncle Jeff. She lights up, smiles and blushes each and every time she sees him. She loves it when Uncle Jeff smiles and talks to her.

Uncle Jeff will take her into his room and teach her to play drums and also play the guitar especially for her. Of course she tunes right into him and listens to the guitar. She loves having the guitar played for her (Daddy likes to play for her too).

Her are some pictures:

Ooooo Drums!

Tuning in...

Can I play too Uncle Jeff?

I can play too

This is fun!!!

Bye Bye Infant Car Seat

Hailey has almost outgrown her infant seat! Or at least to the point where I cannot carry her anymore in it. So we took out the infant seat and installed the "next step" convertible car seat in my car. Hailey is getting so big! And way too fast!!

Hailey is 9 months old!!

3 months until 1 year old! I am already planning the party! I can't believe how fast time has flown.

Here are some fun Hailey facts at 9 months old:

  • She says mama & dada but doesn't say it in reference to us.
  • When she meets new people she will smile at them then dig her head in my shoulder
  • She loves avocado & real chicken
  • When she is super tired, she wobbles more in the bathtub
  • Her favorite toys are these small balls that belong to a big toy. She just loves to hold them!
  • Her laughter is addicting and contagious
  • When we ask her "Where's Jake?" she looks to the back sliding glass door where he usually is.
  • She still loves bananas
  • She's moving on to her convertible car seat because she is too heavy for me to carry in the infant carrier.
  • She is so sweet & happy
  • She loves everybody, especially if you smile at her
  • When she jabbers in the car, she whispers it.
  • When she wakes up from her naps or in the morning, she talks and plays with herself for about 20 minutes before whining to be picked up
  • She loves drinking water from my water bottle or glass.

I will post pics soon. Hailey is waking from her nap! =)

Early Intervention Re-evaluation

It was the same OT that evaluated her at 2 months old. She said she was shocked that the RC (regional center) denied services even though she recommended 2x a month until DD was 6 months old. She said they usually approve everything with preemies and have at times approved services when she recommended against it. Basically she feels as though Hailey's case was overlooked and fell through the cracks.

I was pissed. I didn't show it to her because it's not her fault. If at the end of the evaluation if she said she would still recommend services I would be bitching out the RC until my face turned blue.

The OT said she doesn't see anything from the evaluation that makes her think she would need services and seems right on track. Not everything to 9 months old but definitely 8 months old. Although she would have to input all the info and see where she falls and then would know for sure where she stood.

This makes me happy, of course, she's not too far off from her actual age and the OT gave me some pointers on how to work with her on the things I was concerned about. OT was happy Hailey is catching up to her actual age so quickly (her adjusted age is about 7.5 months). I will have her full report in a week.

I am glad I called. Puts my mind at ease even though I am still pissed at the RC. She could be farther along then where she is if she would have gotten the services the OT recommended. I was ready to appeal their decision too but my pedi recommended to wait until she was 6 months old and then appeal if I still felt the same way. Now I wish I just would have appealed anyway. But I am glad Hailey is doing so well!

Mother's Day 2009

Today was a great Mother's Day. I started the day by sleeping in (til 8am, but these days that is sleeping in!). Randy cooked me french toast. Then we headed off to the park with Hailey to meet with my mom & brother. We brought food from a local sandwich shop.

We put Hailey in a real swing for the first time and she LOVED it! There is a video at the end of this post with her reaction. Needless to say, we are getting a swing for at home!!

We ended the night at Grandma Wiesman's. She got to play with her cousins. She enjoyed watching them jumping off of the diving board into the pool.

Here are the pics (video at the end):

More Fun with Jake & the Jumperoo

Hailey's 1st Show-n-Tell!

My 7 year old Nephew Zachary asked if he could share Hailey in classroom today. It was so cute that he wanted to share his baby cousin to his classmates. Of course, Hailey was the ham she is and giggled and smiled for all the kids the whole time! No whining or tears!!
Here are some pics!

Babble Babble Babble!

If you ask my cousin Emily, she could tell you how obsessed I have been with Hailey babbling. (Canonical babbling to be specific). Well I got a lovely wake up call from Hailey this morning at 5:30am! Oy! BUT she suddenly began to babble dadadadadadadadadadada and it was all worth it! Once she was up I was able to capture it on video while she was rolling around on her playmat.

And here it is.....
