A Day of Fun at Great Grandma Betty's

Friday we went over to Great Grandma Betty's house to visit with her and also Cousin Kendall and Delaney were going to be there too. Hailey did very well. She seemed fascinated by the girls. She liked to watch them play around. Pretty soon Hailey will be big enough to play around with them!

Randy Felt Left Out

Since Hailey and I were in the hospital this year, Randy thought he would follow the trend! Wednesday he started having stomach pains. By yesterday, they were still there so he tried to get into the doctor. They suggested he go to Urgent Care in case it was he appendix. After 6 hours and quite a few tests that's exactly what it was. He was admitted last night and had surgery this morning. Everything went well and though he is upset he has to stay in the hospital one more night, he is doing great. He has had lots of visitors all day to keep him company and his spirits up.

Here's a picture of him holding his stuffed flower his brother Jeff brought him (how thoughtful). He will home tomorrow and out of commission for a week!

A Successful Night in the Crib

Hailey slept in her crib, in her room, last night! I felt very weird to not have her in her bassinet next to our bed.

She went down at 9:30 (Surprisingly) and didn't wake until about 7:15ish. I was happy that she slept for so long in her crib. Of course the whole time all I wanted to do was grab my sleeping bag and crash on the floor but I resisted.

As of right now she is relaxing in her swing and babbling and makes faces at God knows what. She has taken a few cat naps. I was hoping she would sleep for a few hours straight because we are going to see Great Grandma Betty today but so much for that. Hopefully she won't have a meltdown there because she is so tired but will resist going to sleep.

Hailey is 3 Months old!

I can't believe Hailey is 3 months old! She is getting so big and even cuter than the day before. She is smiling a lot and reacting to everyone's faces and voices with a huge grin. Her cooing is occurring more often and I am waiting for that cute giggle! She sleeps through the night and wakes up maybe once to eat. Last night she slept from 10:30pm-7:30am. Needless to say I felt very rested!! She loves to sleep on her belly. Since she is hooked up to the apnea monitor I let her. She tends to get up for the day around 9:30am-10:30am. Then she will up for a few hours and take one very long nap! Average is about 4 hours sometimes longer! Then she goes to sleep by 11:30pm at the latest.

She loves to sit in her bouncer and also stares at Oscar whenever she sees him. She hates tummy time on the floor. After about 1-2 minutes she's done! But she loves to kick and play on her playmat....as long as you are talking to her.

She is doing a lot better with her reflux. She will still have an issue from time to time but I can officially say I have my happy baby back. Whenever she gets really cranky, it's because she needs to go to sleep. However she resists it! Once she calms down..BOMB she's out.

She still LOVES bath time. And for some reason, she's as happy as can be when she is on her changing table! I can't wait for the holidays, even though once Thanksgiving is over I am closer to go back to work and once Christmas is here I am already back. If anyone finds a winning lottery ticket, pass it my way!

GI Doctor Update

Hailey had a follow up visit with the GI (Gastroenologist) Doctor today. She now weighs 10lbs 15.5oz and is 22.5 inches long. He showed me that in weight she is in the 50th percentile for 3 month olds!

The prevacid seems to helping a lot. He increased her dose of Raglen (to match her weight) and wrote a prescription for the formula she's on to try to see if my insurance will cost a portion of the cost since it's for an allergy. I am hoping my insurance cooperates but we will see.

He is allowing me to give Hailey Children's Mylanta to her when she has random flare ups of her reflux. With the prevacid they are not as often anymore but still occur from time to time. That makes me happy to be able to give her some instant relief for when that happens.

My Adorable Little Girl

Just a few random pictures I have taken. We have started to take walks during the day now that the weather isn't so hot. I strap Hailey in the Baby Bjorn and take Jake on a walk around the neighborhood. I found this adorable hat and she looks so cute in it!! It helps keep the sun out of her eyes!

Recent Visitors

About a week and a half ago, Uncle Kenny, Aunt Christa and Cousin Sierra were over visiting with Hailey. Hailey LOVED to hear Kenny talk to her. She just stared and smiled at him. It was adorable. Sierra was very excited to see Hailey. she wanted to help feed her and hold her! Too cute!

Uncle Adam came by this weekend while cousin Emily was down. I snapped a picture of him holding her. Emily came for four days to visit with Hailey. Emily is great with her and Hailey fell asleep on her chest. Hailey can be so cuddly!

I have been trying to be good at taking pictures of all of Hailey's visitors but I tend to forget so I am sorry if you have visited and I didn't take or post a picture!

Let's Talk Baby Crack...

Well I have to say I am quite impressed with this Baby Crack machine. We use the ocean sound and she relaxes right to sleep. What used to take up to 3 hours (while crying and resisting) is only taking an hour, if that(no resisting). This has become part of our bedtime routine which I think she is finally learning.

So for anyone who is having trouble putting their little ones to sleep or even with them sleeping for long periods of time. I highly suggest the crack machine and a bedtime routine. It took awhile for her to learn but I really think she's beginning to. We have already gotten the middle of the nights feedings down (eat then back to sleep; no playing, dimmed lights).

So here's our bedtime routine:

Basically, bath, jammies, bottle, bed. If it's not a bath night I will put on lotion that smells just like her bath soap when changing her into her jammies. Bottle is given in the glider right next to her bed with dim lights. No talking or playing. Baby crack machine on to ocean sounds. I set the timer for 45-60 minutes (she can take 30 minutes to eat sometimes) once the machine goes off, I wait 10 minutes then put her down. Swaddle (with her hands out) then comfy blanket on top.

So far so good. I get at least 6 hours out of her when doing this. Last night, I got 7 hours and then she was down for 4 more.

So this baby crack machine, best $20 I have spent so far....

I am proud of my baby girl!

Hailey is officially "sleeping" through the night. It's not 100% consistent but she's doing it 75% of the time. For instance, she slept from 10pm-6am last night, ate,then back to sleep until 9:30am. For the most part, she is definitely asleep by 10:30 and usually up at around 4-5am then back to sleep for about 3-4 hours.

Tonight Randy put her down at 9:30. She stirred around and "talked" to herself for about an hour without crying and then fell asleep on her own. Who knows when she will wake up but she fell asleep on her own after she woke up when she was put down! That's great!

Although, I need to knock on wood because if I don't she will stop doing it since I called attention to it and wrote a blog about it! But I am very happy! Yay!

It's Bath Time!

Hailey now LOVES baths! She used to cry throughout the whole thing but not anymore! Here's a cute video. I tried not to get her "lady parts" in the video. Hopefully she will not kill me when she gets older for posting a video of her in a bath for family to see!!

Early Intervention: DENIED!

I got a letter from the Regional Center today. Early Intervention services were denied because Hailey is functioning at an age appropriate level. She is not considered a high risk infant because she shows no signs of developmental delays.

This is great right? Then why was I slightly disappointed? Don't get me wrong, I am beyond excited that she is functioning at an age appropriate level and shows no signs of developmental delays! But I was comfortable with the OT coming on a regular basis to ensure she is STILL progressing the way she should. I am surprised that after ONE evaluation that they have made this decision.

BUT this IS good news so I am going to take it as that and trust my pedi to pick up on any delays she may be having, if any! So Hooray for a denial!

Oscar thinks he's a dog

Randy and I have said from the day we got Oscar that he's a dog in a cat's body. Several people who have met Oscar agree. When our elderly neighbor walks her dog, Oscar will walk with them. He's best buds with the dog across the street too. I have actually seen them wrestle!! He and Jake get along but Jake could care less about him and rather play with us or other dogs!

Christa came over this past weekend with her new dog Salem. Oscar, of course, befriended him immediately and they instantly became pals! We missed getting shots of them wrestling but here's a great picture Christa caught if the two of them.....

Baby Crack

I had read on TheNestBaby messages boards about this machine they kept referring to as "Baby Crack." It plays lullabies and it supposedly the greatest things ever. My curiosity got to me and wanting some help getting Hailey to sleep at night really made we wonder. So I bought it. It can found at Bed, Bath And Beyond for $20.

It'd actually really cool. It has 3 lullaby songs and also ocean, rain and heartbeat sounds. It has a picture projector that displays pictures on the walls. I tried it tonight. It really seemed to relax her and she fell asleep as first. She is currently awake again and Randy is rocking her as I type. It's only the first night but we will see if this baby crack machine is what it's "cracked" up to be!

Hailey's Christmas List
